De Kyalami Grand Prix van 1968, officieel de South African Grand Prix, was de openingsronde van het Formule 1-seizoen en werd verreden op 1 januari. Jim Clark, rijdend voor Lotus, won de race op dominante wijze in zijn Lotus 49, aangedreven door de legendarische Ford-Cosworth DFV-motor.
Met deze overwinning op Kyalami behaalde Clark zijn 25e en laatste Grand Prix-zege, waarmee hij het toenmalige record van Juan Manuel Fangio brak. Tragisch genoeg zou dit zijn laatste race zijn; enkele maanden later verongelukte hij in een Formule 2-wedstrijd in Hockenheim. Zijn overwinning in Kyalami blijft een eerbetoon aan zijn uitzonderlijke talent.
